House (1999) Digital animation [still] |
A series of line drawings digitally animated together, with an electronic music soundtrack composed by the artist. Each frame is split according to an approximation of spectrum divisions necessary for
three-dimensional visual effects, usually separated for
re-combination in the eye. The animation's slow zoom
and rapid retraction, rhythmically combined with the sound, nonetheless creates
a disturbing visual effect. Distortions and retinal traces
make it unclear whether the drawings are indicative of solid forms or if they are
reversible, interchangeable plans with no grounding in actual experience
or physical reality.
