| Affectation Dioramas (2001) Three-channel slide projection and voiceover [still] |
This work consists of three animated fictions, constructed from still
photographs of live actors on sets. The images are in fact
slide projections captured with a video camera, and so, crucially, are
not still at all. Subtitled dialogues, which contain little
inherent narrative content except for an implied direction, demonstrate a clumsy denomination of a continual present.
The turning movement through past, present and future is blown up and
amplified into what might be called 'tense' narratives (in both senses of the term) suggesting that within the details of any given moment
passing time can be discerned.
