www.dispatx.com is an independent curatorial platform founded in 2004 by Oliver Luker, Vanessa Oniboni and David R J Stent. Running over eight editions, Dispatx worked with a diverse range of both emerging and internationally recognised artists, writers, poets, photographers, academics to produce hundreds of pages of original content on specific themes.
As well as an exhibition space for finished work, the website provided a
forum for interaction with the creative method of all contributors, utilising the tools of a
socialised internet to encourage collaboration between projects and with the public. As well as submissions, each issue was made up of selected projects that were developed over a period of 5 months using the Dispatx Studio. Work in progress could be observed Make,
where users could comment on, tag, and interconnect the work of specific artists. When all projects
are finalised they are published in Show, where the presentation of content is processed by genetic algorithms according to levels of audience interest. Visitors were also invited to create unique 'private collections' of available projects in My Dispatx, a dynamic storage space in which connections between content items were schematically diagrammed.
