Conjoint (2003) Sound sculpture |
The separation of sounds across the stereo field of a recording are here
disrupted by the physical merging of their method of reproduction, the
speakers. A computer generated voice comments upon itself in one
channel, whilst relentlessly repeating words in the other. The separate
'personalities' panned across the speakers raise questions as how a
word might begin to lose meaning on repetition, if the absolute fidelity
of the reproduction could be digitally confirmed.
